How Claim Process works ?

STEP 1: INTIMATION

  • The policyholder informs the insurance company about the occurrence of an event for which they want to make a claim.
  • This can be done via phone, email, or through the insurer’s app or website.
  • The intimation includes basic details like the policy number, date and type of incident, and contact details.

STEP 2: RECORD INWARD NUMBER

  • Upon receiving the claim intimation, the insurer generates an acknowledgment and assigns a unique claim intimation number or claim reference number.
  • This number is used to track the progress of the claim throughout the process of the insurer.

STEP 3: CLAIM FORM RECEIVED

  • The insurer provides the claim form to the policyholder, either online or physically.
  • The policyholder completes the form, providing detailed information about the event, such as supporting documents (e.g., invoices, receipts, medical reports, or FIR if applicable).
  • The insurer receives the completed claim form from the policyholder.

STEP 4: CLAIM FORM SUBMITTED

  • After filling out the claim form and attaching all required documents, the policyholder submits it back to the insurance company.
  • The insurer verifies whether the form and documentation are complete and may request additional information if necessary.

STEP 5: CLAIM FORM RECEIVED BY INSURER

  • The insurer acknowledges receipt of the submitted claim form and supporting documents.
  • The claim is now officially under review. The insurer may assign a surveyor or investigator, if required, to assess the incident and verify the claim details.

STEP 6: CLAIM AMOUNT RECEIVED

  • After successful verification and approval, the insurer processes the claim and disburses the approved amount to the policyholder.
  • Payment is typically made via direct bank transfer or by issuing a cheque, depending on the agreed terms.

STEP 7: FEEDBACK

  • The policyholder provides feedback on their experience with the claim process.
  • Insurers often use this feedback to improve their services and address any concerns raised by the claimant.
  • Feedback is also a good opportunity for the policyholder to voice any grievances or share positive experiences.
